With increased funding from the Albanese Government, the ABC’s international arm has now launched a new TV Program, The Pacific.
The new program will air at 7pm on Thursdays on both international and domestic TV services. Hosted by Tahlea Aualiitia, The Pacific will explore news, culture and sport from across the Pacific.
It is the first new program to result from the additional $8 million per year over four years to ABC international services provided under the Government’s Indo-Pacific Broadcasting Strategy which will increase Australian content and project Australia more widely to the region.

ABC Alumni Deputy Chair, Helen Grasswill has put a comprehensive report together on the ABC’s plans and the history of the ABC’s international services and soft power impact.
