For the past 20 years, Australians have grown to love triple j’s Friday Like a Version segment – when artists perform a cover in the studio. There have been more than 800 covers performed and you can now vote for your favourites.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of triple J’s much-loved Like a Version, everyone can vote for their favourites before 10 July. A special Hottest 100 will then be counted down on 15 July.

Many of the reinventions of classic and contemporary songs have launched the careers of Australian artists and attracted overseas performers intrigued by the concept.

Hottest 100 Digital Producer, Kane Sutton, recently traced the evolution of one of the ABC’s most recognised products since its introduction in 2004 by then triple j presenter Lissie Turner (under the name Mel Bampton).

More than 600 artists have been covered by others, several multiple times, with WA’s Tame Impala being covered the most (nine times), including the iconic Wiggles performance of Elephant - which was voted Number 1 in the 2021 Hottest 100.

Paul Kelly has been covered eight times, while Kylie Minogue’s Can't Get You Out Of My Head has been performed twice and English indie band, The Wombats, have taken part five times since 2008.
