Do you have strong opinions about the ABC and its importance for the Geelong region and other local communities? If so, please help us send a strong message to both Ultimo and Canberra by joining the line-up at our Stronger ABC for Geelong event in two weeks’ time.

We announced last month that Jon Faine will be the MC and lead the discussion. Jon will be joined on stage by the hugely respected journalist and biographer Margaret Simons, Geelong Authority chair Diana Taylor and Jeremy Crawford, the CEO of the Geelong Chamber of Commerce.

Margaret will specifically talk about the nationwide need to support local journalism. Jeremy and Diana, who is also the Vice President of Geelong Football Club, will talk about their mutual love of the ABC and the opportunities to strengthen its coverage of and relationship with our region.

We are also expecting an as-yet-unnamed ABC manager to join what should be a very lively conversation followed by questions from the audience.

Most importantly, we hope to fill the room with friends of the ABC to show politicians at all levels of government that our community strongly supports the ABC and wants it to maintain and increase the breadth and depth of its journalism.

The meeting is at 7pm on Tuesday, May 28 at the Geelong Library & Heritage Centre. Entry is free, but everyone planning to come along needs to register at trybooking.com/CQHSW.
