There are two federal seats in Victoria which are held by the Liberal Party which they could lose at the coming federal election.
Much of the media speculation is about seats the Libs must win to have any hope of forming government, but these two – Deakin and Wannon – they could actually lose on the way, making it much more difficult to make up the winning numbers.
The seat of Deakin is one of the most marginal in the country, held by a margin of less than 1%.
The threat to the incumbent is a preference-driven ALP win, and the seat is definitely “in play”, as they say. A good campaign could make all the difference.
The seat of Wannon is held by a margin of 3.5% and is Malcom Fraser territory.
In this case the threat to the incumbent is a well-funded and popular independent. The votes of younger people could determine the result.
ABC Friends will be campaigning in both these seats to urge voters to vote for the ABC i.e.to vote for candidates who support a well-funded, fearless, independent ABC.
